The Hypixel Network (or the Hypixel Server) is a multiplayer server on Minecraft: Java Edition which has been running since April 13, 2013. It is a minigame server hosting some of Minecraft's most popular games including SkyBlock, Bed Wars, and many others. Hypixel also has unique features and mechanics on the server, including levels, cosmetics, Friends, Guilds, etc.
Games
- Main article: Games
Hypixel hosts a wide variety of games including team survival games like Bed Wars, competitive battles in Duels, casual play in the Arcade Games, progression and leveling in SkyBlock, and much more. They can be accessed through the Game Menu, where the player will be warped to the game's lobby, or through play commands.
Games and/or game modes with similar themes and playstyles are grouped into lobbies. Each lobby houses NPCs which players can interact with to start playing the game, info and leaderboard walls, a parkour course, The Delivery Man, and a Quest Master. Some lobbies have extra activities or NPCs relating to the game and/or its progression. Certain lobbies for popular games are reskinned depending on the season or ongoing event.
Games which are in initial testing to obtain player interest and feedback are placed in the Prototype Lobby, and upcoming SkyBlock updates are often tested on the Alpha Hypixel Network. A few games have been removed from the network entirely due to declining/low player interest.

- Main article: Main Lobby
The Main Lobby is the central hub for the Hypixel Network, containing several NPCs for popular games on the server as well as various Easter eggs and activities such as Fishing. The lobby gets reskinned throughout the year depending on the season or ongoing event.
Social Menu
- Main articles: Social Menu and Profile
The Social Menu houses the player's Profile which contains general character information, Hypixel Leveling, Boosters, Achievements, Quests and Challenges, settings menus, and more. During seasonal events, the Event Shop will also appear in the player's Profile. The Social Menu also has other tabs to view info about and profiles of Friends, players in one's Party, Guild members, and others whom the player has recently played with.
Players can also view the profiles of other players through their Social Menu, commands, or by clicking on the desired user's name in chat which brings up a menu with social media profiles and quick actions.
Ranks
- Main article: Ranks
Ranks are titles which grant cosmetic features and quality-of-life mechanics across the Hypixel Network. There are four one-time-purchase donator ranks (VIP, VIP+, MVP, and MVP+) and one subscription-based rank addon (MVP++) available to all players, purchasable through the Hypixel Store or through the In-Game Store. Due to Minecraft's EULA, ranks cannot grant in-game advantages, which would make the server pay-to-win.
There are special ranks such as the YouTube Rank given to content creators, the Hypixel Staff rank given to Hypixel's employees, and others which may only been given to one or a few players.
Server Mechanics
Hypixel Leveling
- Main article: Network Levels
Hypixel Leveling is a server-wide progression system on Hypixel. Network Levels can be increased by earning Hypixel Experience, obtained through playing games and completing various objectives. Leveling up grants rewards such as Mystery Dust, Arcade Coins, Boosters, and more. Special milestones also grant rewards that include permanent server-wide Coin multipliers and plus colors for the MVP+ and MVP++ ranks.
Achievements
- Main article: Achievements
Achievements are special tasks players can complete to earn exclusive rewards. Achievements are split into two types: Challenge Achievements and Tiered Achievements; the former is earned by completing special designated tasks, and the latter is earned by increasing a stat or doing a repetitive task. Achievements reward Achievement Points (AP) when completed, which count towards Achievement Rewards that give unique prizes every 100 AP.
Friends
- Main article: Friend System
The Friend system is a server mechanic that allows players to become friends with other players through the /friend series of commands. Friends are exempt from most of a player's privacy restrictions if they have their privacy settings set to High for private messages, duel invites, Party invites, and Guild invites.
Parties
- Main article: Party System
The Party system is a server mechanic that allows players to join groups in lobbies and games using the /party commands. Parties can be created by inviting someone with the /party (player) command. Parties can play games together and join lobbies together using the /party warp command. A Party is disbanded when the party leader uses the /party disband command, all players leave, or all Party invites in a one-person Party expire.
Guilds
- Main article: Guild System
The Guild system is a server mechanic that is essentially the Hypixel Network's version of clans. Guilds consist of multiple people in a clan together, with its own name, ranks, and community. Guilds can be created and owned by players with the VIP+ rank using the /guild create (name) command, though any player of any rank may be in a Guild. Guilds can be leveled up with Guild Experience, obtained through playing games or contributing towards the Guild Quest (/guild quest ) while it's available. Guilds can be left by members with /guild leave and can be deleted by the owner with /guild disband .
Version Support
Hypixel is hosted on Minecraft: Java Edition and generally supports Minecraft 1.8.x as well as the last two major updates (modern versions). Versions outside of these are at risk of being deprecated. The most popular versions are usually 1.8.9 and the latest Minecraft version.
